I’m Sarah and fitness has been apart of my life since I could remember. I graduated January of 2016 with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, where my focus was on mindset and motivation of the individual (and no I promise I’m not analyzing or diagnosing you when I talk to you J).
Growing up I played many sports including basketball, volleyball, and softball. As I got into high school I started narrowing my focus in on just softball. It was the first gateway into my overall passion for fitness. Through softball I was able to learn and grow because failing 7 out of 10 times makes you good at the sport.
As my passion for softball grew so did my skills with the game. I began coaching while still playing in high school and then went on to play college softball at Dominican University. During my college years I spent my summers coaching and winters training until my knee decided I had enough. During my junior year I suffered a season ending injury where the doctors told me I would never be able to catch or squat ever again. Fast forward to now and I am stronger and more confident that ever! While softball was a rollercoaster for my knee, I ended my senior year being able to play but still not as healthy or as strong as I thought I could be. That’s when I found CrossFit.
CrossFit was that competitive outlet that I lost after I was done playing softball. It has helped me find my love for fitness again. My first workout at CrossFit Park Ridge was absolutely wonderful and I knew that this was the place for me! The coaches and members were so welcoming that I knew I found my home.
As a coach I want to be there to motivate each and every person who comes into my class, whether it is to try something they have never done before, or just to give them that extra encouragement because everyone CAN do the work! I want you to feel like you gave it your all. And of course have fun while doing it.
